The Accreditation Process

Designed to have minimal impact on workload.

Assessment

Assessment

Once logged in to our portal you can score your school or trust’s finances on our self-assessment questionnaire and provide context for your answers. As part of the process, a member of our team will arrange calls with your school or Trust’s senior finance person and an appropriate Governor or Trustee. View our accreditation framework.

Evidence

Evidence

The evidence for your answers is provided by uploading existing data and reports to the portal. Suggested documents include annual accounts, Board minutes, scheme of delegation and SFVS or SRMSAT. View the accreditation framework for more details.

Review

Review

Reviews are carried out by accredited SchoolMark advisors who are school finance professionals. They will review your answers and evidence and form a judgement on whether your school or trust meets the standards for accreditation, or whether further development is required before the accreditation can be awarded.

Roadmap

Roadmap

Your SchoolMark advisor will develop a roadmap based on their assessment, highlighting areas for further work and signposting to relevant helpful tools.

Accreditation

Accreditation

The SchoolMark accreditation is awarded when your school or trust meets a score of 80% or more across all nine areas of the scheme. The school or trust will receive a certificate of SchoolMark accreditation and permission to use the SchoolMark logo. The school or trust name will be entered onto the public register of SchoolMark accredited organisations, providing evidence that you are running an efficient financial model based on a sound strategy that puts your students first.
